Fire Safety Regulations

How can fire protection regulations facilitate the company's fire protection work?

Both employer and employee may already be familiar with the fire protection regulations (hereinafter: regulations) as a document. Protection against fire has a prominent place among the employer's obligations, as numerous laws in Hungary deal with the subject and prescribe various duties to be observed.

In order for the employer to navigate between all of these, it is worth collecting these tasks and recording them in our own regulations. Because if it is mandatory to have such a document, it is worth preparing it with due care and professional preparation.

What should the fire safety regulations contain?

Among the legislation, we can find many clues as to what a regulation should contain. We get the opportunity to clarify within the company who has what duties in relation to fire protection. We can indicate here the person or position responsible for checking the fire protection devices and equipment, or the fire protection officer who commands the appropriate escape in the event of a fire alarm.

It is definitely worth writing down the fire protection usage rules, which can be explained to employees within the framework of fire protection training so that they are aware of them. In which part of the work area, what activities can be carried out and what needs to be paid attention to, to avoid the occurrence of a fire.

The regulation of mandatory fire safety education can be included in the regulations. Who implements it and in what form and at what intervals the employees must participate in it.

In the course of our daily work, we also come across equipment that we need to know or possibly use in the event of a fire. Knowledge of these can also be included in the regulations, so that the employees have knowledge such as, for example, it applies to signaling a fire or extinguishing a fire, because these can be done in many different ways.

If an occasional fire-hazardous activity is carried out at a company, its process and conditions must also be defined in this regulation.

In addition to all this, the legislation ensures that a point is included in the regulations that describes the calculation of the evacuation of larger rooms (with a capacity of more than 50 people). This ensures that in the event of a fire, employees can safely leave the given room within the specified level time.

Who can prepare a fire protection policy?

Taking all of this into account, it is worthwhile not only to have these regulations prepared, but to have them prepared well, because such a document can facilitate the company's fire protection operations.

In Hungary, the preparation of fire protection regulations is considered a professional activity, so only a person with the appropriate qualifications can prepare such regulations. Qualifications can be divided into two main groups, intermediate and advanced. If a company needs to employ a person with mandatory higher-level fire protection qualifications, only he or she can prepare and amend the regulations. In other cases, it is sufficient to have a person with an intermediate qualification complete the task.
