What occupational safety training is required?

Nowadays, we are often confronted during occupational safety education, that we just want to be done quickly, quickly. Of course, this is requested by both the employer and the employee side. Today, e-learning education is enjoying its heyday. Of course, this can also work efficiently and well! We can legitimately ask the question. What education should be given? The head of the company rightly asks that what education should my employees receive under my management? What occupational safety training is required?

OSH education – regulation

Let's start at the beginning. The need for occupational safety education is prescribed by the Occupational Safety and Health Act (Mvt.§ 55. (1), (2)). The employer must provide preliminary occupational safety training before starting work. After that, it is necessary to renew what you have heard every yearThis is called recurrent occupational safety training. There are situations when extraordinary training is necessary, e.g.: a new tool or machine comes under the control and use of the employee, or an accident occurs at the company, etc. Now that we have seen what this requires and how often it needs to be held, we can talk about what occupational safety education should be like. The topic can be approached from two sides. One is the employer's side, the other is the employee's side.

Occupational safety education - from the employer's point of view

The employer is obliged by the Occupational Safety and Health Act to provide education, but it is important not to treat it as just a "tick off" task, a duty to be performed. It is important for the employer to realize that education can play a major role in preventing a possible accident. It is important that a well-maintained education for the company's employees can bring the company closer to the possibility of long-term safe and healthy work. It ensures the company's reliability and stability, increases efficiency, and provides protection to employees.

Occupational safety education - from the employee's point of view

The other aspect is the employee side. Here we are often faced with just getting over it. If it is really important for the person holding occupational safety education that we give information to the employees in a way that is understandable and acceptable to them, then we need to get attention and interest from the audience. It is important that the employee feels the attention during the training, that it is for him. If this can be achieved, we will also be able to provide them with the necessary information. Why is this important? Because it is the individual who makes the decision before an accident. He is the one we can influence in this case - remembering what was said at occupational safety training - in the direction of making a good decision. With this kind of occupational safety education, the employee receives attention and feels important, which will make him perform more accurate and stable work. In doing so, it also supports the company where it is employed.

Repetitive occupational safety education

It is good to ask the employee's opinion about the use of different tools and machines, as well as the practical observance of various regulations, during repeated occupational health and safety training. If the comment or suggestion is reasonable, the occupational health and safety department receives feedback from the user side. It can make local specific regulations more viable. On the other hand, the employee side also gets more respect, its importance becomes more noticeable, and the employees' commitment to the company that employs them strengthens. Such observations are also of enormous social utility, as they have an impact on the number of hours lost from work, on the reduction of health care expenses, if we can prevent one workplace accident with it.

We know this is not always easy, as in today's fast-paced world, time, efficiency and effectiveness are important. A lot can be achieved with e-learning too, if the education is carried out in a targeted manner by job. If you are a company manager, you should know that you can get all this with occupational safety training, you can give it to your employees if you choose who you work with correctly. From the employee side, and I know that life brings unexpected situations, where good decisions and following the rules are key.
