Professional review of fire protection devices and equipment during the COVID 19 pandemic

In view of the emergency, the authorities are simplifying the procedures in countless cases. In our previous article, we already reported on the facilitation of medical examinations and fire protection examinations. The article in its entirety by clicking here you can read it.

However, the obligations related to the operation of life and health protection equipment still exist. These include the professional inspection, maintenance and operator inspection of fire protection devices, equipment and appliances, periodic safety inspections of elevators, cleaning of ventilation equipment, and we could go on and on.

Since the National Directorate General of Disaster Management of the Ministry of the Interior has not issued an official position regarding the facilitation of such tasks, they must be documented even during the emergency period in accordance with the current legislation. According to our experience, several maintenance and inspection companies cancel or postpone the performance of their current tasks included in the contract by referring to the emergency situation. In our opinion, the owner, operator, or tenant who neglects the periodic review, inspection, and maintenance of their equipment is not acting correctly. This is also true if the given area is temporarily inactive during the emergency.

Review by a specialist company

In order to fulfill the above, we recommend that they officially notify the specialist companies performing maintenance and inspection of their continuing demand, and at the same time provide information on the conditions under which they are allowed to enter and work in the area of their facility. Among other things, which routes can be used by employees of specialized companies, which areas can they enter. Let them know whether the tools needed for the work are provided on site or not. (Such a tool can be a ladder, stand, other work equipment, etc.)

It is worth asking what additional protective equipment they were ordered to wear during their activities in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (protective mask, rubber gloves, etc.).

If there are any changes or new provisions in the aforementioned, we will inform you in our constantly updated articles on our website.

Let's take care of each other, together we will succeed!
